I. (v.3) UNBELIEVERS ARE UNAWARE OF WHAT IS AHEAD

*It will come as a thief in the night

1. There will be false security
2. There will be certain judgment

1. It will be sudden
2. It will be severe
3. It will be inescapable

II. (v.4-11) BELIEVERS SHOULD PREPARE FOR WHAT IS AHEAD

1. (v.4-8a) Stay alert
2. (v.8b-10) Put on your armor
3. (v.11) Care for each other

1. Remember who you are
2. Obey what God says

1. Watch and don’t be lulled into sleep
2. Be sober and don’t be lulled into sin

1. The breastplate, which protects the heart
2. The helmet, which protects the head

1. Faith
2. Love

*The hope of salvation (described in v.9-10)

1. Comfort each other
2. Edify one another
