LIVING IN PERILOUS TIMES

Romans 16:17-20

I.  (v.17-18) A SOLID DEFENSE – WE MUST PROTECT OURSELVES AGAINST EVIL INFLUENCES

1. Recognize spiritually dangerous influences
2. Avoid spiritually dangerous influences

1. Their effect – they cause division and offenses
2. Their motives – they do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly
3. Their methods – by smooth words and flattering speech they deceive the heart
4. Their target – the simple

II.  (v.19-20) A STRONG OFFENSE – WE MUST STRENGTHEN OURSELVES WITH GODLY RESOURCES

1. Doctrine – learn what is true
2. Obedience – do what is right
3. Wisdom – discern what is good
4. Hope – trust in God’s promises
5. Grace – depend on God’s help
