GOOD NEWS (Part 1)

Acts 13:16-41

 Here’s the good news:

1. (v.16-26) Jesus came, as God had promised
2. (v.27-29) Jesus died, as God had promised
3. (v.30-37) Jesus rose, as God had promised

I.  (v.16-23a) GOD MADE A PROMISE – A MESSIAH WOULD COME

1. (v.17-21) A promise to the “fathers” – The Abrahamic Covenant
2. (v.22-23a) A promise to King David – The Davidic Covenant (II Samuel 7:12-16)

1. (v.17a) He chose the nation of Israel
2. (v.17b) He established the nation of Israel
3. (v.18) He put up with the nation of Israel
4. (v.19-21) He cared for the nation of Israel

II.  (v.23-26) GOD FULFILLED HIS PROMISE – A MESSIAH DID COME

1. John announced Him to be the Messiah
2. Jesus revealed Himself to be the Messiah

1. He demonstrated this by His works
2. He declared this by His triumphal entry

Conclusion: (v.38-41) Therefore let it be known to you . . .

1. God promises forgiveness and justification to everyone who believes
2. God promises judgment to those who reject Him
