GOD’S SPIRIT AT WORK (Part 1)

John 16:5-11

I.  (15:27) THE SPIRIT WORKS THROUGH BELIEVERS

1. The work of the Holy Spirit
2. The responsibility of Christ’s disciples

1. (Acts 1:8) He empowers the witnesses
2. (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21) He inspires the Scripture

1. Christ’s original disciples – to be eyewitnesses
2. All of Christ’s disciples – to be witnesses

II.  (16:7-11) THE SPIRIT WORKS IN UNBELIEVERS

     The Spirit will convict the world (unbelievers) . . .

1. Of sin – that they are guilty
2. Of righteousness – that Christ is the only way to be saved
3. Of judgment – that judgment is real

Conclusion – just because they are convicted, doesn’t mean that they will choose to trust Christ.
