GOD’S LOVE REVEALED

Romans 5:5-8

I.  (v.5)  THE LOVE OF GOD HAS BEEN POURED OUT IN OUR HEARTS

1. The Holy Spirit has been given to believers
2. The Holy Spirit points to Christ

1. (John 15:26) He testifies of Christ
2. (John 16:14) He glorifies Christ

II.  (v.6-8)  THE LOVE OF GOD IS DEMONSTRATED BY THE CROSS

1. (John 3:16) God the Father gave His Son
2. (v.6-8) God the Son gave His life

1. Voluntarily
2. Selflessly
3. Sacrificially

Conclusion: The bread and cup remind us to meditate on the cross
