WHAT OUR CHILDREN NEED TO HEAR FROM THEIR FATHER

II Timothy 1:1-7 & I Thessalonians 2:11

I.  HE COMMUNICATES HIS LOVE FOR HIM

    *II Timothy 1:2-4

A.      (v.2) “I love you”

B.      (v.3) “I thank God for you”

C.      (v.3) “I’m praying for you”

D.     (v.4) “You bring me joy”

II.  HE COMMUNICATES HIS CONFIDENCE IN HIM

     *II Timothy 1:5-6 – a positive affirmation of what is “in you”

III.  HE COMMUNICATES HIS INSTRUCTION TO HIM

     *I Thessalonians 2:11

A.      He exhorts

B.      He comforts

C.      He charges

Conclusion:  Paul was acting as a godly father – he was being like God

1.      Does God communicate His love? YES

2.      Does God give us confidence which is based in His provision? YES

3.      Does God instruct us with an urgency about preparing us for the future? YES
