Romans 7:14-25

I.  (v.14-24) PAUL TESTIFIES OF HIS STRUGGLE

A. (v.14-17) He STATES it 
1. (v.14) His condition – I am carnal
2. (v.15-16) His explanation – what I want to do, I don’t do, but what I hate, I do.
3. (v.17) His conclusion – sin dwells in me 

B. (v.18-20) He RESTATES it
1. (v.18a) His condition – in my flesh nothing good dwells
2. (v.18b-19) His explanation – the good that I want to do, I don’t do, but the evil that I desire not to do, I do.
3. (v.20) His conclusion – sin dwells in me

C. (v.21-24) He RESTATES it AGAIN
1. (v.21) His condition – evil is present with me
2. (v.22-23) His explanation – I delight in the law of God, but the law of sin is in my members
3. (v.24) His conclusion – “O wretched man that I am!”

II.  (v.25) PAUL TESTIFIES OF HIS HOPE
 
A. The question – Who will deliver me?

B. The answer
1. Hope comes from God
2. Hope comes through Jesus Christ our Lord

Conclusion: This sets us up for chapter 8 – a detailed explanation of how to walk in the Spirit
