I.  GOD GIVES BELIEVERS THE HOLY SPIRIT

1. The world cannot receive the Holy Spirit
2. True believers permanently receive the Holy Spirit

1. (v.16-17) Jesus gives an explanation
2. (v.18-20) Jesus gives assurances

1. He will be WITH you
2. He will be IN you

II.  GOD HELPS BELIEVERS THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT

1. As the paraclete, He comes alongside us
2. As the Spirit of truth, He teaches us

1. Historically, He inspired the apostles
2. Currently, He illuminates believers
