I.  THE PEOPLE OF THE TRIALS

  1. (Mk 14:53-65; 15:10) The religious leaders were motivated by tradition and envy
  2. (Mk 15:1-15) Pilate was motivated by a desire to please people
  3. (Lk 23:6-11) Herod was motivated by curiosity and personal pleasure
  4. (Mk 15:11-14) The crowd was motivated by emotions

II.  THE PROBLEM WITH THE TRIALS

  1. The question they did not ask – what if He really is who He claimed to be?
  2. The evidence they did not consider

  2. His miracles
  3. His character
  4. His teachings

III.  THE RESULTS OF THE TRIALS

  1. (Mk 15:15a) A guilty man was released
  2. (Mk 15:15b-20) An innocent man was crucified

Conclusion: Has Jesus gotten a fair trial in your heart?
